Hand Tools Intensive - Make a Marking Gauge - 9/22 and 9/23

In this class you will work with hand tools to make your own marking gauge. An invaluable part of every furniture maker's tool box, marking gauges are used for scribing lines and layout out joinery on wood parts. Instructor Kate Hawes will show you how to cut mortises by hand, how to shape wood with rasps, files and block planes, and how to make accurate saw cuts using a miter box You'll even re-purpose an old band saw blade into gauge's metal cutter. All materials and tools will be provided and you will have the opportunity to customize the design of your marking gauge.

Class dates: Wed 9/22 and Thurs 9/23

Class size: limited to 7 people

Cost: $240 plus $45 materials fee

Level: Beginner to intermediate (some hand tools experience preferred)
