Are you ready to acquire woodworking skills that will add a new dimension to your furniture?
In
this carving class you will be introduced to techniques used to produce a low relief carving. This
style of carving was made popular by early 18th
century artisans from Hadley, Massachusetts and is based on the famous
Hadley chests.
Hand tools and carving expert,
Mike Leggett, will take you through how to design and transfer a carving pattern to the work piece, techniques for relief carving, and a method for texturing the background using a
homemade punch that you will make. The goal is to leave class
with at least one half of the pattern complete and the skills to finish the piece and produce other low relief carvings on your own.
All tools and materials will be provided.
